The second drone was shot down at 6:05 p.m., five minutes after entering Romanian airspace.

A closer look

The Romanian Defense Ministry stated that the drones were shot down by Romanian military pilots, with Defense Minister Radu Miruta writing on Facebook that the drones had illegally entered the country.

The Black Sea will be safe again, Romanian Foreign Minister Oana Toiu wrote on X, with NATO set to discuss the issue at a North Atlantic Council meeting on Tuesday.

This drone incursion is the latest in a series of incidents believed to be a result of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
