The full report
Former Wallaroos captain Emily Chancellor has announced her retirement from international rugby union. Chancellor will run out for her 42nd and final Test on Friday night against Scotland in Canberra.
Chancellor says she still feels physically capable of playing but is "ready for the next chapter". She has had a glittering career, earning 41 caps for the Wallaroos and spending eight years with the national team.
Chancellor admits that if she were told she would feature in two Women's Rugby World Cups, earn 41 caps for the Wallaroos and spend eight years with the national team, she would have laughed. She says rugby wasn't an option for her growing up, but she found the game when she was at university.
Chancellor made her debut against New Zealand in 2018 aged 26, when she was awarded the player of the game. She remembers being terrified and thinking she wasn't good enough for the team. Despite her initial fears, Chancellor has gone on to have a successful career in rugby.
Chancellor will captain the Wallaroos for the first time as Australia faces Wales in Brisbane. She says she is ready for the next chapter of her life, but it's a hard decision for her to make because she still feels physically capable of playing.
