The full report
Supermodel Cindy Crawford has expressed her grief over the death of her son Presley Gerber, who died at a rehab facility in California on 20 September at the age of 27. Crawford posted a tribute on Instagram, describing her son as a 'sweet, beautiful soul who loved and is loved, now and forever'.
Presley Gerber was a model, making his catwalk debut for Italian label Moschino at the age of 16. He was also the younger brother of model Kaia Gerber, who has also paid tribute to her brother on social media. Kaia shared a video of the two siblings as children dancing together, a photo of them standing near the ocean, and a four-page letter to her brother.
In the letter, Kaia wrote about the memories she shared with her brother, including the time he went first to get his ears pierced when she was scared. She also expressed her difficulty in learning to love her brother without being able to see him, and how to be his sister in a world that she cannot reach for him in.
Crawford and her family are grateful for the outpouring of love and support from those who know and love them, as well as strangers who feel their pain. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner has listed Presley's case as pending additional investigation, and the Santa Monica Police Department has said there is no indication of foul play involved in his death.
Crawford's tribute to her son included a black-and-white photo of him, and she wrote that she and her family feel 'blessed to have had Presley in our lives for 27 years'. She also expressed her love for her son, saying 'Til we meet again our sweet boy. We love you forever, Mom, Dad and Kaia'.
