Firmus Scraps Planned ASX Float as Investor Demand Falls Short

Firmus Technologies has withdrawn its application to list on the Australian Securities Exchange, abandoning what had been expected to be one of the country’s largest market floats. The company says it will pursue private funding instead.

The decision follows lacklustre investor demand and questions about the company’s debt, valuation and plans to build out its AI data-centre network. Much of the proposed infrastructure is still under development, making capital needs and delivery timelines central to the investment case.

The pullback is a reminder that enthusiasm for artificial-intelligence infrastructure does not remove the usual questions about financing, construction risk and future returns. It may also affect other businesses and projects tied to the planned data-centre build-out.

Why it matters: AI infrastructure remains a major investment theme, but the aborted float shows investors are scrutinising the price and risks more closely.
