The full report

Comedian Russell Brand is facing charges of rape, sexual assault, and indecent assault against six women, with the prosecution describing him as a 'ruthless, calculated and manipulative sexual predator'.

The allegations span a 10-year period from 1999 to 2009, with the women accusing Brand of ignoring their pleas to stop and treating them as a means to an end. The prosecution claims that Brand had an 'insatiable desire' to get what he wanted and would be 'nice when he wanted to be, funny - undoubtedly - charming, likeable even, when he wanted something in return'.

However, when he didn't get what he wanted, Brand would allegedly become 'demanding, entitled, a flirt with a huge sexual appetite - childlike in his expectation that his every desire should be met'. The prosecution also claims that Brand would 'appear indifferent, normal and untroubled by what had just occurred' after the encounters.

The court heard that Brand had told a former flatmate that he wanted to sleep with 5,000 women in his lifetime and had strategies to achieve that aim. The prosecution also claims that Brand would 'leave promptly after the incident, sometimes making an excuse to get away, or sometimes simply continuing as though nothing wrong had happened'.

The allegations against Brand include a 1999 Labour party conference in Bournemouth, where he allegedly raped a woman at a hotel after meeting her at a fringe cabaret show. The woman remembers the weight of him on top of her, she couldn't move, she was finding it hard to breathe, but she recalls trying not to let him kiss her, and saying 'no'.

Brand has pleaded not guilty to all seven charges and is currently on trial at Southwark Crown Court in London. The trial is ongoing, with the prosecution continuing to present its case against Brand.
