PSG winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia to undergo surgery after rupturing ACL
The full report
Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, a 25-year-old winger for Paris Saint-Germain, will undergo surgery after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) during a Champions League match against Barcelona on Tuesday.
The injury occurred when Kvaratskhelia twisted his right knee during a challenge with Xavi Espart, and he was unable to put weight on his leg as he was substituted in the 59th minute of the match.
Kvaratskhelia, who has featured 11 times for PSG this season, helped the team win back-to-back Champions League titles following his move to the French capital from Napoli in January 2025.
The club has not put a timeline on his return to action, but ACL injuries typically require a recovery period of at least six months.
Ousmane Dembele and Marquinhos, two other PSG players, will also be absent for a few weeks due to injuries, with Dembele limping off with a left thigh injury and Marquinhos injured his right thigh.
PSG maintained their winning start to their Champions League defence with a 4-2 win over Barcelona, with the team sitting top of the table with three wins from three matches.
